Year 7
2013
Year 7 consists of 90 students who have come from 15 different primary schools. Our Year 7 theme for 2013 is ‘Colours of the Rainbow”. Our year consists of many different student talents and interests, just like the colours of a rainbow, which have all come together as one community here at O’Connor. It is all about letting those talents and interests shine in the various activities offered at our school, including music, academic, agriculture, creative arts and sport just to name a few. It is also important to acknowledge and accept these differences in talents and interests.

Year 7 students have entered into their high school years with great enthusiasm and support for the school theme, which is “You Only Live Once, Serve Willingly, Act Generously”. Participation in many events such as the swimming carnival, the Masses, Vinnies and musical groups has been awesome.

Year 7 Camp will be held at Nymboida for three days in Week 8 and this is another way of allowing the students to develop and nurture the relationships within the group and to challenge themselves with abseiling and water activities.

Year 11 will be working with Year 7 during the year to assist in integrating the students into life at high school and playing the role of mentor with the introduction of linking up with a Year 7 pastoral team on Fridays.
Each term there will be Student Representative Council (SRC) elections so that 8 Year 7 students have the opportunity to take part in decision making and working as part of a larger school group in creating a better school for all.

Stage 3 transition days (for Year 5 and 6 students) are held for students wishing to experience some of the wonderful things that O’Connor has to offer. These are advertised via our website, newsletters and newspapers so please contact the college for more information regarding these transition days.
We look forward to a very productive and enjoyable year.
