History
OConnor Catholic College is a
co-educational high school, from Years 7 to 12, and a systemic
school in the Diocese of Armidale. It began in 1975 with
the amalgamation of two of Armidales longest established
schools - St Ursulas College (est. 1882) and De La
Salle College (est. 1906). The school occupies the site
of the former De La Salle College.
The college takes its name from Bishop OConnor, Bishop
of Armidale from 1904 - 1930. His contribution to Catholic
education in the Diocese during this time was outstanding.
OConnor has as its motto the quote from St Pauls
letter to the Galatians,
The Fruit of the Spirit is Love.

About
O'Connor
Pastoral Care
Growth
takes place in an atmosphere of mutual respect and trust.
At OConnor we develop close student/staff relationships
and staff are careful to demonstrate that our expectations
of
them derive from our respect for them as persons. We
believe that in our interactions with students the College
offers support and education that not only prepares
young people for life, intellectually and socially,
but also grounds them in an abiding belief in the goodness
of God and other people.
Christian
Community
The
sense of Christian community is important to the life
of the College. It is developed through:
the fostering of Gospel values through the teaching
and practice of both staff and students;
an atmosphere of mutual respect and trust;
liturgical and sacramental celebrations;
Christian service to members of the wider community.
